Alessandra Leone (b. 1983, Milan) is a director, video artist, and designer currently based in Berlin.Leone&#039;s primary artistic medium is video, encompassing a diverse range of forms such as installation, live visuals, interactive dance performance, and music videos. Seamlessly navigating between film, video, and live performance, her work consistently reflects a dedication to portraying performing bodies, exploring new technologies, and blending visual languages and techniques from various artistic disciplines. Leone&#039;s creations are both kinesthetic and aesthetically satisfying, emerging as intricate, multidimensional interdisciplinary compositions that mirror her commitment to ongoing experimentation and authentic creative curiosity.Collaboration is a pivotal aspect of Leone&#039;s expansive practice. Throughout her career, the artist has joined forces with many artists and performers, including Hen/i, Daria Kaufman, Zoë McPherson, Lucrecia Dalt, Felix Kubin, CS-Kreme, and Alessandro Cortini. In 2012, Leone co-founded – with performer and choreographer Hen/i – StratoFyzika, an interdisciplinary collective dedicated to creating immersive, mind-altering performance experiences through a blend of new media, dance, and spatial soundscapes. Building on years of collaboration, in 2020 Leone and McPherson established SFX, an hybrid label focused on audiovisual synergies.

PURIFY is a smooth slow cinematic ritual of contemplation of nature.The continuous vibrating sound makes you sync and tune in physically, from very deep inside. Sculptural and painterly dimensions are rendered in transition.We drift through infinite dimensions of places. It’s a drifting that brings a very physical sensation of vibrating light, earthy smells, wet soil, and the rustle of waves. You can almost touch the wet rocks and feel the waves’ trail of lather.The camera and waterbodies movements are edited right at their highest peak to build up altogether until the end.PURIFY is a conversation between infinite landscapes, and the rhythm of each landscape is punctuated by the interplay of light/matter, and the higher pitch drops. A map of connections unfolds, evokes a feeling of contemplative spaciousness, hand in hand&nbsp; with ATŌMI's rumbling, humming drone sounds of low crackling frequencies.Hypnotic and moving.

Then the cooler blue tones kick in, and the final vignette cuts through with hyperactive laser beams that track and trace the artist's body.&nbsp;Raki Fernandez's inspired styling introduces reflective materials and futuristic textures, tying together the artist and her environment."Zoë's insistently moving presence is restless," explains Alessandro Leone.&nbsp;"She sways between calibrated body motion in repetition, and more frantic movement where her body raves and releases, driven by an inner force, or by the circular cracking sound, or both."The camera’s position grants us a view over it, half-way between wide-angled contemplation and subjectivity.
