Alessandra Leone (b. 1983, Milan) is a director, video artist, and designer currently based in Berlin.
Leone's primary artistic medium is video, encompassing a diverse range of forms such as installation, live visuals, interactive dance performance, and music videos. Seamlessly navigating between film, video, and live performance, her work consistently reflects a dedication to portraying performing bodies, exploring new technologies, and blending visual languages and techniques from various artistic disciplines. Leone's creations are both kinesthetic and aesthetically satisfying, emerging as intricate, multidimensional interdisciplinary compositions that mirror her commitment to ongoing experimentation and authentic creative curiosity.
Collaboration is a pivotal aspect of Leone's expansive practice. Throughout her career, the artist has joined forces with many artists and performers, including Hen/i, Daria Kaufman, Zoë McPherson, Lucrecia Dalt, Felix Kubin, CS-Kreme, and Alessandro Cortini.
In 2012, Leone co-founded – with performer and choreographer Hen/i – StratoFyzika, an interdisciplinary collective dedicated to creating immersive, mind-altering performance experiences through a blend of new media, dance, and spatial soundscapes.
Building on years of collaboration, in 2020 Leone and McPherson established SFX, an hybrid label focused on audiovisual synergies.
