Apparat 'Heroist' by Matilda Finn
Matilda Finn teams up with Apparat for the stunning video for Heroist.
Featuring a mix of experimental video and dark, raw photography, the frenetic visuals mirror the irregular beat of the track, building to a breakneck climax.
Focussing on several seemingly unconnected vignettes, the film places a huge emphasis on human nature, characterisation and surreal perspectives of life, and each scene links back to this overarching theme.
MATILDA FINN:
“This video is about humanity’s search for enlightenment and meaning. The irony is that this can usually be found at our darkest points. We often try to run and hide from hardship and challenges, but if you face it and accept it you can grow. That’s the odd duality of life; from darkness comes light.”
“The video was a feat of hard work and production, stretching over 2 months. Some figures for you: 16 X photography days, 1 X 16 hour night shoot, 2 X insurance claims, 2 X emergency service visits, 934 photos used in the actual video. Countless nervous breakdowns and 5 untrained dogs.”
