English five-piece Mallory Knox have received an impressively visceral video for Better Off Without You by That Jam. And thanks to the work of DoP Matt Vahey, the video's photographic treatment is remarkably dynamic, suitably dismal in tone and beautifully varied in texture. With an aim to "complement the blistering energy of the track," That Jam have created a convulsive piece of work, channeling the songwriter's personal story of emotional instability, confusion, over-medication and difficulty in dealing with chronic depression."For many, going to a doctor and speaking about an illness of the mind can be a difficult thing, and can require great courage to accept and admit you no longer have full control of your own thoughts and feelings," the band explained, "to be given a pill and told "see how it goes", or made to wait months to talk for ten minutes to a professional is the reality many face."With the video, the band have addressed the destructive results of society's 'quick fix' mentality, hoping to spread an awareness of the terrible isolation it can bring to mental health patients.
