Zebra Katz 'Y I Do?' by Nathaniel Brown

Jimmy Brown - 21st May 2013

Zebra Katz puts in a stirling performance in Nathaniel Brown's dark but stylistically and visually pleasing piece for the New York rapper's minimal and brooding Y I Do.

Zebra Katz puts in a stirling performance in Nathaniel Brown's dark but stylistically and visually pleasing piece for the New York rapper's minimal and brooding Y I Do. “I believe the idea of doing music videos that act only as a means to create a visual for the song is an old way of thinking about the process" says Nathaniel.  "I reached out to Zebra Katz, as I wanted to pitch a fashion editorial music video to V Magazine, a way of pushing videos into a new direction, allowing new brand collaborations, and new outlets to premier them. "Coming from the fashion world, I wanted to create something that exists in the same realm as the fashion editorials for magazines, using amazing stylists, lighting directors, and hair and make-up.  "Zebra was very open to the idea. I think his music is super progressive, as well as his attitude. He allows himself to be pushed. He likes bending the medium and trusts the creative team around him.  "We got along very well. The response to our piece was great, and V magazine wants to turn this into a whole series. It's just a matter of finding a brand that will support the idea.”
