Stella Belle Hex directs a punky retro-futuristic promo for Sophie and the Giants.

Continuing to hone her surreal, tech-inspired style across the mediums of live action and animation, the video for Don't Ask Me To Change marries together early internet-era iconography with contemporary styling and effects.

“I wrote this song at a time when I was at a crossroads and examining my relationships with people," explains Sophie Scott of SATG. "Every time I discovered something new about myself, I’d feel the compulsion to repress it slightly and minimize my true self to avoid being judged or losing people. I wrote Don’t Ask Me To Change when I finally decided 'f*** that'. Because if they really loved me, I wouldn’t have to make those compromises.”

This sentiment is wonderfully visualised in the no-holds-barred performance, where Sophie boasts an assured, confident attitude and an unforgettable presence on screen.
