Royal Blood 'Typhoons' by Quentin Deronzier

Rob Ulitski - 1st Feb 2021

Royal Blood's fearsome performance becomes the eye of a human storm in Quentin Deronzier's brilliantly stylish video for Tyhoons.

There's a sense of calm in the air as the video begins, before things start to happen. Then as the band kick off on a London rooftop, a group of young people wearing black start running, Why? Where are they heading?

As their number grows, and their speed, it becomes clear the young people are sprinting towards that rooftop where RB are performaning. And they get there, to circle them and create an amazing phenomenon - a human typhoon.

Deronzier squeezes the maximum visual impact from this strong central concept. The edit weaves the band's performance and the mass movement of youth into a thrilling experience; and the VFX are excellent, manipulating the overcast weather into something cinematic and unexpected. It's a true testament to the creativity of the entire production team.
