A young cadet prepares for interstellar travel in Greg Barnes' nostalgic video for The Foundation, a new track from Nicolas Godin.

Featuring vocals from California-based Cola Boyy, the contemplative visuals focus on a space cadet's training under a strict teacher, as she swims, runs, climbs and learns how to engineer complex machinery. Focused more on the emotions leading up to the flight as opposed to the travel itself, the slow-burning visuals offer a moment of pause and consideration, bolstered by great performances from lead actors Anna Sari and Rick Kiesewetter.

Shot on 16mm and packed full of crash zooms and slow fades, DP David Wright pays homage to the Space Race with his meditative cinematography and earthy colour palettes.

“The track felt so out-of-this-world and intrepid all at once. The concept of mankind exploring space fell into place almost immediately, and the excitement of creating a sci-fi visual for the song stayed with me throughout the whole process.”
