Son Lux 'The Fool You Need' by Jean-Paul Frenay
Jean-Paul Frenay has a created a brilliantly visceral work in his second video for Son Lux - an unconventional dance piece that features a male and female protagonist both battling against unlikely primal forces.
Set in a hotel corridor worthy of a Coen Brothers movie, these two unusual humans emerge fully formed from birth sacs on each end of the corridor, to face elemental rain, fire and fierce winds. It's an ostensibly bizarre scenario that's immediately gripping, and increasingly involving on an emotional level, as the pair strain to find strength by coming together.
This is a terrific work of direction, including excellent VFX, by Frenay, who also directed the ambitious portmanteau-style video for Son Lux's Cage Of Bones in 2016.
