Wild Front 'Views' by Jake Hargreaves
David Knight - 18th Apr 2017
Jake Hargreaves' latest video for Wild Front begins with an old man pondering a room of masterpieces at the Wallace Collection in London. Then he starts to see his younger self inside one of the paintings.
We find ourselves in a Highland landscape, where the younger man appears to be searching for someone - a lost love. The director does a skilful job merging the painterly landscape with the real one, and then developing a sense of yearning, and what might have been.

JAKE HARGREAVES:
"I dug a little further back with my influences with this one, back to my art history days, and tried to conjure up connotations of the romantic period. Both literally with the paintings, but also in terms of narrative and tone. The sweeping landscapes, lost love, lady of the lake.. etc.
"The piece is about an elderly man searching his past, with the exploration set off by a painting that emotes a time past gone. A time he is transported back to in his youth, which you begin to realise he has not found closure with. Bit of a somber one! But felt it fit the tracks motifs."
