Coldplay 'Up&Up' by Vania Heymann and Gal Muggia
Waiter, there's an oil rig in my soup. After blowing everybody's minds consistently over the last couple of years with videos like Roy Kafri's Mayokero and CeeLo Green's Robin Williams, Vania Heymann is back - teaming up with Gal Muggia to co-direct an incredible video for Coldplay.
The video uses seamless compositing to play with perspective and blend images together that would otherwise have no business being combined. Up is West. Down is behind you. Chris Martin is a thousand feet tall and using a mountain range as a beanbag. It'd be an almost nightmarish vision if it wasn't so brilliantly done.
It's not all lovely imagery without a point though - there's some visual nods to the refugee crisis and a general reminder that the world is a very mixed up place and we're all closer to it than we think.
