Talbot 'Voo Circular' by João Seiça

David Knight - 28th July 2015

In the video for Talbot's Voo Circular, the relationship between two girls is played over again and again, in a series of upward-moving camera moves, where things in the picture subtly change, and identities are crossed, but are also turned upside down, and the dreamy atmosphere reveals an underlying violence. It's a beautifully composed piece from João Seiça, a director who divides his time between London and Lisbon.

João Seiça:

"For the 'Voo Circular' video I was interested in the blending of identities and personalities, in this 'circular' way, so I thought it had to start from a guttural place, Lisbon's strangest beach.

"The main difficulties arouse from the huge costume changes (and keeping track of it) and the terrible heat.. The least complicated shots were the underwater shots which we shot in a small bathroom in an afternoon."
