Michael Woods 'We've Only Just Begun' by Bison

Sam Hill - 27th Sept 2012

For Ministry of Sound artist Michael Woods' latest single the video's brief came with an interesting stipulation from the commissioner, that it could make use of the Team GB Rhythmic Gymnastic team. Directing duo BISON - that's Dave Bullivant and Owen Silverwood - took this as a fantastic opportunity to capture some mesmerising visuals to go with the track.

"We had been working on a technique called 'Trails' for a while; where you capture light trails in camera, and thought this opportunity to work with the girls from Team GB was the perfect place for it," say Dave and Owen. "We wanted to create something with intrigue and beauty. Hopefully creating an interesting juxtaposition between the visuals and music. "We had the suits made with 60 LED's sewn in, which proved pretty fiddly, as we had to maintain the maximum amount of movement for the girls. We made the ribbons out of Scotchlite, and mounted an LED ringlight around the lens of the camera, which gave us the pinging direct reflections. "Post production was fairly intense. A small army of flame ops layering up the light streaks we'd recorded in camera, and a bold grade to top it off. We're amazed we got away with some of the things we did but the label was amazing. To be honest, everyone involved on this project was amazing. It was a real pleasure to do."
