The sixth episode of Promonews' new series of podcasts with creatives in the music video industry is out today, featuring DoP Adam Singodia and CHEAT colourist Vlad Barin.

In this episode of The Promonews Podcast: Talking Music Videos - in association with WPA Worldwide Production Agency - hosts David Knight and Rob Ulitski take a slightly different tack than in previous episodes, when they have talked to directors such as Louis Bhose and Lucrecia Taormina about their work to date.

As well as talking about their career paths to date, Adam Singodia and Vlad Barin take us through their collaboration on a single video - Irish band The Academic's Kids (Don't End Up Like Me). They discuss how they approached the challenge presented by directing duo Tearjerker, who were looking to create a distinctive, nostalgic Americana look, influenced by Speilberg movies of the 1980s and David Lynch's Twin Peaks.

Adam and Vlad discuss the specific aspects of lighting and grading the video - shot in Northern Ireland - and the impact of new technology on their work.

In each episode of Talking Music Videos, the hosts talk to people making a significant impact in music video production right now.

In the first episode, COMPULSORY's Lee Fairweather talked about the London-based production company's prolific output of music videos in the past year or so. In episode two, director Louis Bhose talked about his career change from music to directing, and his subsequent videos for Loyle Carner, Bombay Bicycle Club, Maisie Peters, and others.

This was followed by director/animator RUFFMERCY talking about his career and his fascinating working process. The fourth episode featured director Salomon Ligthelm, talking from his home in New York about his work for the likes of Young Fathers and Little Simz, his unconventional career path and bold approach to making music videos.

Lucrecia Taormina was the guest in the previous episode of the Promonews Podcast, talking about her work and pushing her larger-than-life aesthetic on videos for Ashnikko, Bree Runway and more.
