Biscuit Filmworks UK sign Nathan Miller
Biscuit Filmworks have announced the addition of Nathan Miller to its UK roster, a London-based filmmaker who has created a series of acclaimed films documenting the artists working in grime and other music scenes.
Director of the documentaries LDN, Ciph and Northside, Miller has had access to numerous artists including J Hus, Drake, Stormzy, DJ Cipha Sounds and DJ Kenny Allstar, making insightful films about their artistic processes. He has also created branded films, and worked with South London rapper K-Trap on a trailer and short doc for his debut album.
His work has been featured in The Fader, Highsnobiety, XXL, Mixmag and Crack Magazine.
Growing up in Hackney, Miller started out making films about the characters he met who stayed at The Ace Hotel in Shoreditch whilst working there fresh out of school. Entirely self-taught as a filmmaker, his work aims to capture the personalities and untold stories of his subjects through an intimate, immersive style.
"Nathan has seized each opportunity that's come his way," says Rupert Reynolds-Maclean, Managing Director at Biscuit UK. "His hunger to tell stories in a cinematic way is what drew us to want to work with him. Nathan gives an honest and fearless voice to the subjects of the stories he tells. We’re honoured to have him join us."
Biscuit is currently in production on a short narrative film with Miller, and he is also finishing a feature-length documentary on the acclaimed British rapper J Hus.
Andrew Law, Head of Music at Biscuit UK adds: "I’m immensely excited about Nathan. His work has an immediacy and intimacy to it that is so rare. His visuals display an amazingly assured and nuanced sense of composition, and his capacity in an edit to identify fleeting but powerful moments and allow them time and space to linger is really special.
"His documentary work has shown his unique ability to cut through the noise and really capture the essence of an artist, which will prove so enormously useful as he turns his hand to promos."
