Homespun have announced this year's Homespun Yarns for 2018, with the final call for treatments on Friday, April 27th.

The title of the brief for Homespun's fifth annual film competition is IF - and entrants are invited to submit a short film idea that begins with an "If". Potential entrants need to download the brief, and submit their idea by the entry deadline.  

Homespun Yarns is organised by Homespun, the content and music video arm of top London editing company Stitch Editing. Once the Homespun team has collectively judged all the entries, three winning ideas will be shortlisted, and Homespun will give £1,500 funding for each film, and provide editing expertise and facilities. The winning entrants can alsocall upon additional help from Homespun Yarns supporters like Wave Studios, Panavision, Kodak, Freefolk, Cheat, and for the first time, Performance Insurance.

"The idea this year is to educate young filmmakers through our associations and supporters," says Leo King, Stitch co-owner and editor. "We are incredibly lucky to be working with Wave Studios, Panavision, Kodak, Freefolk and Cheat again, who will all be involved from the pre-production stages to advise our directors and guide them through their areas of excellence.

"We have Performance Insurance involved for the first time. They will be on hand in relation to the film insurance process. We want everyone involved to establish contacts they can build relationships with for the future.”

The awards night will take place in October when the final three films will be screened and judged by the audience. As wells the kudos of winning, the overall winning film will receive a £500 cash prize and an unrivalled kick-start to their filmmaking career.

Entrants have until 11:59pm on 27th April 2018 to submit their idea, in the form of a script, storyboard or treatment.
