Ben Reed signs with HSI London – and directs Joan As Policewoman’s The Magic

Ben Reed signs with HSI London – and directs Joan As Policewoman’s The Magic

David Knight - 6th Jan 2011

Ben has directed promos for Race Horses' Man In My Mind and Pony (both BBC 6Music videos of the week), James Yuill's On Your Own, Mumdance's Don't Forget Me Now (above), Funeral For A Friend's Serpents In Solitude, and Wave Pictures' Sweetheart - nominated for Best Budget Video (Rock/Indie/Alt) at the 2010 UK MVAs. Part of a vibrant filmmaking scene in Cardiff which also includes directing team Ewan Jones Morris and Casey Raymond, Ben's most recent video for Joan As Policewoman's The Magic (right) is a typically wacky effort featuring Joan in domestic bliss with three bodybuilders, who comb her hair, file her nails and staple sardines to the wall. "We are thrilled to be working with Ben," says Carrie Sutton, HSI London's head of music video. "We really love the insane, resourceful creativity and dark sense of humour he has shown making low budget videos. "His greengrocer and butcher have featured heavily supplying his art department so far," she continues, neglecting to mention his fishmonger. "Definitely a new British talent for 2011."
