Ali Taylor directs Shitdisco – and joins Academy
David Knight - 6th May 2008
While at Sherbet Films, Ali directed animated videos for the likes of Emiliana Torrini. She is also an artist, her most recent work inspired by burlesque performers. Ali's move into live action has been prompted by making promos independently, using MySpace and Facebook as means of contacting bands and repping herself - and her joining Academy coincides with the release of her distinctive video for Shitdisco's I Know Kung Fu. It's a performance video remarkable for it's unusual emphasis on Shitdisco's outstanding drummer Darren Cullen, and it's unusual eroticism - Ali was apparently inspired by seeing the band being mobbed by girls on-stage.
