Scouty - the online platform that allows producers to find and book locations for music video shoots, promo shoots and more - is about to complete a busy first full year in business. 

The platform has been designed to streamline the process of searching, viewing and booking locations, so producers can secure the ideal location for their shoots within a few clicks, and Scouty has proved to be a popular new resource for producers involved in music video production, since we first reported on the service back in May.

Scouty welcomes clients of all types - everyone from independent music artists to global music company Sony Music have used the site to book locations for their projects this year. And there are now over 1,000 locations on Scouty which are available for photography and filming.

"Every day we uncover new, creative spaces — from mid-century homes to creative studios, and beyond," says Scouty co-founder Nico Doeser. He adds that on the site it's possible to book locations by the hour, not just a day rate. "Only pay for what you need. Pay by the hour, without worrying about hidden fees or overtime."

So as the end of the year approaches, we asked Nico to point out some of the most popular, most desirable and most under-the-radar music video locations on Scouty in 2021. You may spot a few places that look familiar from some of your favourite videos of the year... 

Large period house, grounds and pool - North West London

This huge property with Tudor beams has over 6000 sq ft of versatile space, and is frequently booked for hip hop and rap music videos. The classy house has a big outdoor pool where a lot of dance scenes have been filmed.

Features include spacious rooms, an original open fireplace and a modern interior design.

Furthermore, there is a large parking space, access to toilets and overnight security. The site's surrounding noise level is also very quiet.

Large, mid-20th century family home, South West London

Another popular location is this large family home in Streatham, London. It has original 1970’s features, furniture and a stunning indoor swimming pool.

The whole house is available for filming, including the living room, kitchen and bathroom.

Features include 1970's décor, complete with period wallpaper and wooden wall panelling. This location will help transport your audience into the 1970s, with an ambience that is both warm and elegant.

'Abandoned Basement', Central London

Kept in its industrial condition of a boiler room with concrete floor and exposed brick walls, this space has frequently been booked for music video shoots. The 2400sq ft space is split into two basements with 4m-high ceilings.

Features include a derelict room with an exposed brick hole entrance and another with a dining table and kitchen cabinets.

In addition, there is space for a dressing area and green room, parking space and access to toilets. This location would be perfect for dark, grungy videos requiring an abandoned and neglected setting.

Large studio space, Central London

A heritage-listed 1500 sq ft studio space in buzzing Central Shoreditch; minutes walk from Shoreditch High Street, Liverpool Street and Old Street stations. This very large and beautiful space has huge windows providing excellent light, authentic wooden floors and an extremely high pitched ceiling.

Features include white brick walls, fireplaces, a wooden swing, vintage industrial doors, interesting furniture and access to many props.

The studio also features a balcony overlooking a beautiful church. It's often used by high street retail, e-commerce, financial sector, film and TV clients.

This location house is situated in the Hilltop area of picturesque Walthamstow Village. It offers a large living room 28ft, east-facing front room very bright with good daylight, 1980's - 1990's decor in the kitchen and bathroom.

The property also features a cellar that is clear with no clutter, around 25ft in length and 5ft in height. In addition, it has a Large studio space with a balcony overlooking the front garden.

This location is perfect for period shoots or if you are looking for a warm, homely setting. It's already received many positive comments from past film productions.

Car park rooftop, Central Croydon

Looking for something different? This large car park rooftop in Central Croydon has views of the city skyline. It's an open space with a grey tarmac floor, natural light and can be fully booked for your shoot all day without public interruptions.

Features include a large entrance size and, of course, on-site parking. The main appeal of this location is the skyline view which would look spectacular as a background for music videos in the daytime or at night.

Photography/Film Studio (Black Out), Central London

This Black Out photography and film studio features a 360 blackout cloth, black flooring, props and lighting. In addition, the space has an on-site editing suite and in-house crew, including designers and animators who can help you accomplish your creative goals.

Features include fully lit blackout studio space with on-site access to lighting and filming equipment. The site comes with a changing area, toilets, showers, and access to a kitchen and parking space.
