Kiasmos 'Blurred' (Bonobo remix) by Arni & Kinski
Arni & Kinski revisit their folk roots and also their electronic music origins in this delightful video for Kiasmos.
Filmed in Eidi and Gjogv, Faroe Islands, this is a celebration of the national 'chain dance', evolving from the mass communal experience f the dance into something more intimate. A young man and woman who are dancing at different points of the chain, start to show their feelings for each other.
“We are long time fans of the national chain dance of the Faroe Islands, Føroyskur dansur,” say Arni & Kinski. “We love the groove of it and the stories that the “kvæði” (lyrical poems) tell and the meditative, hypnotic energy that transpires through the dance. It is a time where people of all ages and all walks of life on the islands come together and join hands for magical moments of song and dance in union.
"The video shows a long chain of people snaking around in a room, and we focus on a connection between a young woman and a man as they gaze at each other from opposite sides of the line. Love is in the air.
"The video was filmed in Eiði and Gjógv in the Faroe Islands. The dancers in the video come from the local traditional Faroese dance group. We were fortunate enough to be able to film this age-old and stunning indigenous happening."
