Donald Glover and Hiro Murai triumph at Golden Globes with Atlanta

Atlanta, the TV series created by and starring Donald Glover and directed by longtime collaborator Hiro Murai, won the award for Best Television Series - Musical or Comedy at the Golden Globes on Sunday (January 8th).

Murai was among the cast and crew who joined Glover on stage as he accepted the award for the show that premiered last September on the FX channel in the US. In the show Glover stars as a college dropout who hitches his fortunes to his cousin, an up and coming Atlanta rapper, and becomes his manager. Glover also won the Golden Globe award for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy Series at Sunday's ceremony.

Donald Glover (above, centre) also wrote Atlanta with his brother Stephen, and Hiro Murai (above, far left) directed eight out of the ten episodes in the first season. It's the latest and most high profile success coming out of Murai's longtime association with Glover, following their working together on the acclaimed music videos of Glover's musical alter-ego Childish Gambino - including 3005, Sweatpants and Sober.
